5 Benefits of Choosing Mediation to Resolve Your Legal Dispute

Let’s keep the courts out of it and solve things with minimal stress. Choosing mediation can help you get the results you want and need for a fraction of the cost.

At Goodwin Law & Mediation, we believe in resolving conflict without going to court. Over the years, we have seen how litigation can leave both sides struggling financially and required to follow court orders that don’t really meet their needs. We believe that through mediation and collaborative law, we can help clients solve their family, commercial, and civil matters in a better way.

Choosing mediation instead of traditional litigation has many benefits.

     1. Fairness. In mediation, both sides work together with a neutral third party, the mediator,  to reach an agreement. They do not present their sides to a judge or third party who then decide what ruling is best. The parties retain control and it is the parties that decide when a fair and acceptable agreement is reached. No one is deemed guilty or innocent, and the opposing sides are able to compromise until they reach an agreement that satisfies both sides’ values and desires.

     2. Affordability. Mediation is far less expensive than litigation.

     3. Confidentiality. Court cases are public and anything that is revealed in court becomes a part of the public records. If there are aspects of your issue that you’d rather not disclose to the whole world, you can keep them confidential by choosing mediation.

     4. Speed. In most cases, mediation proceeds much more quickly than other methods of resolving a dispute. Some cases can be solved in a few days, or even in just one session. At most, mediation will take a few days whereas court cases can stretch over months or even years.

     5. Less formalities. In mediation, you don’t have to deal with all of the specific rules and regulations about what you can and cannot do, and when you can and cannot speak. Things unfold more like a real, authentic conversation.

Overall, mediation is a valuable tool for solving your disputes in a less stressful way that results in better outcomes for all involved.
